1971
What started as a meeting between two car buffs, Russ Jackson and Tom Barrett, in the 1960s has blossomed over the years into the world's most anticipated collector car auctions and events. In 1967, they held a car show and parade to raise money for Scottsdale, Arizona's art center and library. By the fall of 1971, the car show was phased out and work began on a collector car auction to be held that winter, seeded with 75 vehicles from Jackson’s and Barrett’s personal collections.
